I arrived home from work to find no one at home. Time for day 2 of Encore’s training.
I got a brush, saddle, and saddle pad, and set them in the middle of the roundpen next to my bucket.
I sat on the bucket and waited for Encore to come to me.
He sniffed all three items, before coming up to me. I told him if he wanted to be petted that he had to put his head down. To my surprise he did. Which in turn he got his face rubbed. He really seems to like having his face rubbed.
Next I tucked the lead rope in my belt, picked up the brush and began to groom him. To my surprise, he really loved being brushed every where.
Next came the blanket and saddle. Didn’t take as long as it did on day one. All went well thru all the exercises without a single buck, to include letting him roam the round pen on his own. Time to end the day with unsaddling, and brushing.
Would not accept apple treats or, carrot treats.
