August 4th...
Serenity here... Puddin' is working, but I have company, an 11 year old girl, and she offered to help me work the Arabs. She has already tried Journey, so today she offered to work Encore.
Kylee is a daughter of a dear friend of mine. She is a great kid and spends most of her time riding horses with her family.
Kylee caught Encore herself, groomed & fly sprayed him, tacked him up (boots and all). In the arena they went, w/t/c, she even practiced the flag race, a gymkhana event. Encore was very tolerant...very good boy. Kylee is a good rider and Encore behaved well.
She even laid Encore down. He didn't hesitate, went right down for her, she mounted, and he stood back up.
We swapped horses so she could play with Journey. I made Encore canter several laps around the arena, and after Journey left we walked around a bit to cool off. He is such a good boy, especially considering how infrequently he gets worked.
On the 2nd, we dewormed Encore with ivermectin. He was good as gold.
