May 1st... What a big day for Journey. It was terribly windy today which makes Journey pretty nervous. I don't do bribery, and I don't believe in hiding the rope or halter. So in I went, halter and lead rope in hand. I was able to catch her no problem.

I just did desensitizing with her today, with the stick and string. She did very well. A little fidgety with her back legs but not bad. Mostly I think it was impatience and nervousness from the wind. She was 10 times better than my colt with this exercise.

After our quick session (30 minutes), I put Journey back in her paddock. Later I caught her again without issues. I tied her up to a tree in her paddock. She stood stock still for over an hour. I was very impressed to say the least.

This evening I caught Journey and tied her up to the tree again. She has a nice mane, but part of it splits to the left side. I'm a right-side-mane kinda girl, so I wanted to get this tamed ASAP. I also am one that likes a bridle path. So I brought out the electric clippers and trimmed her bridlepath. Journey was 100% perfect!!! Never flinched. Took the mane & tail detangler sprayed on her mane like a champ. She was a bit fidgety at first but never moved or acted up. Now her mane is braided, her bridle path is done...she was patient and quiet through all of it.

Picked up all four of her feet too. She's especially unsure with the right side, but not terrible. No kicking at all. I'm excited to work with her tomorrow.
